Chehre: The wait for Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi starrer gets longer; release postponed

The cases of Coronavirus in the country have been increasing significantly, especially in the state of Maharashtra. It has led to a lot of apprehension in the trade since the state consists of the crucial markets of Mumbai and Pune. Meanwhile, the state government declared a night curfew in Maharashtra from Sunday, March 28. The government has made it clear that malls have to be shut between 8:00 pm and 7:00 am. With most multiplexes located inside malls, it means that the last show of a film will be held during evening. And this new situation will effect the release of the films as well. As a result of the new restrictions and surge in cases, the makers of Chehre have finally postponed the release of their film. In a press note they have announced, “ Due to the rising cases of Covid19 and new guidelines for cinemas we are unable to release our film Chehre on 9th April and have decided to postpone on further notice.”  They have also mentioned that when things will be brighter and condi...

Why children are prime targets of armed groups in northern Nigeria

Due to growing insecurity, Nigeria is gradually becoming one of the most dangerous places to live. The 2020 Global Terrorism Index  identified  the country as the third most affected by terrorism. There was a sharp increase in Boko Haram’s targeting of civilians by 25%, and killings by herdsmen increased by 26%, compared with the previous year. The two countries higher on the index are Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the Nigeria Security Tracker, 2,769 violent deaths were  recorded  between February 2020 and February 2021 in Borno State alone. Similarly, ransom-kidnapping by armed groups has  increased  substantially in the past five years. Over  $18 million  was paid as ransom for kidnapped victims between 2011 and 2020. While insecurity is common in Nigeria, the  northern region  has been most affected. This is due to Boko Haram attacks, banditry, farmers-herdsmen conflicts, kidnappings and ethno-religious conflicts. Sadly, children have not been spared. In the northeast,  childre...

Rich, Please: How The Pleas Of India’s Wealthy Seem ‘Fake’ To The Masses

When the average Indian gathered with his compatriots ‘en masse’, to support the fight against the coronavirus, having completely missed the irony of the situation, to offer his/her gratitude with bells, shells and whistles on Sunday,  the country’s upper middle-class and the elites from the film industry, sporting world and other assorted socialite types couldn’t help themselves. There were diatribes and monologues, pleas and exhortations galore, fine tuned to the minute, for instant noodle, social media consumption attention time spans, neatly packaged with the ‘message.’ There were even videos explaining the ‘scientifically proven’ benefits of vibrations produced by clapping and bells that may drive the Corona monster away. Now, any amount of awareness is good, in any shape or fashion, sincere or pandering to the lowest common denominator. For the general public though, it seemed disingenuous at best, more so, because the real heroes in all of this, healthcare professionals, for who...

Ever Heard Of ‘Life Porn’? You May Well Be Living It

While pornography as a subject is always subject to heated debate, modern- day living is not bereft of the pornographic on a day-to-day basis. Life porn is a thing, and we may as well all be addicts, with or without our knowledge. This is because the modern-day professional is caught up in addictive habits, much like the hapless penchant for adult entertainment. It does not take long for an innocuous start to slowly get out of control in the shadows of your mind, when it comes to addiction. So what is life porn really like? Life Porn Why focus singularly on morning ablutions, when that red marker pings on your phone to give you that first shot of purposeful living, or dread, depending on what job you work. Who said you cannot brush your teeth with your phone in one hand, as you start bathroom-scrolling? Insta notifications, email notifications, Facebook notifications, you get notified on the regular, every minute. That witty comment you mulled deleting was validated, nine times over, i...

Top 10 Korean Erotic Movies of all time

Hola my ‘Chingu’ (friends in Korean), ‘Annyeonghaseyo’ (Hello). I am back again with my super ‘Daebak’ (awesome) list of movies for all those who are looking for something unusual yet refreshing. After taking a break from bragging about my obsession over K-Pop and K-Drama, I finally decided to rekindle my relationship with Korean movies over the weekend. And the genre I picked this time is something most of us are intrigued by and take a keen interest in – erotica. CJ Entertainment While, ‘Oldboy’, ‘Train to Busan’ and ‘The Handmaiden’ are some of the best movies Korea has given to the world, their cinematic preserve isn’t restricted to action, gore or horror alone. Erotica is another key genre Korean directors love to experiment with and ‘The Handmaiden’ isn’t the only erotic movie they have in store for us. Korean erotic movies pack everything one can ever wish for in a movie – thrill, acti...
