Selena Gomez Opens Up About Collaborating With BLACKPINK For ‘Ice Cream’, Says “We Fit Together Perfectly”

If you still can’t over the whole vibe that was Selena Gomez X BLACKPINK, you’re not the only one. Even today, after months of the release of Ice Cream, I still go “Ice cream chillin chillin, ice cream chillin” at the random moments and I know I’m not alone. I mean, how can one not; it’s got everything that Selenators and BLINKs need/desire/want plus more. Groovy tune? Check. Catchy lyrics? Check. Cute, colorful outfits? Double check. Also, it’s finally gives ‘I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream’ a break. God knows we needed a new catch phrase about the sugary treats.

Now, this is no wild recollection but a premise to gushing you are about to hear. In a conversation with ETimes, Selena Gomez opened up about working with Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Rosé, making the video on facetime and more. Speaking about the collaborative process she said, “The BLACKPINK girls were so welcoming, we had an absolute blast while working on the song.”

“It’s also been a learning process because the language was new. But, somehow our distinct styles, along with their energy… we just fit together perfectly,” Gomez explained. Not just that, the songstress also opened up about widening her fanbase and reach with the Korean Music Industry because of “how warm and welcoming the audience has been.”

Meanwhile, like Forbes puts it, the American pop idol is ‘ushering her Latin Era.’ Gomez is fresh off the release of De Una Vez, her first Spanish single in over 10 years that has found a place in almost every one of Billboard’s Latin-only charts. It also seems like there is no stopping her as she has even teased her next single titled, Baila Conmigo. The single produced by Tainy will arrive on January 29 and features Rauw Alejandro.
