9 Celebrities Who Quit The Film Industry To Pursue Spiritual Path

One such industry where every aspiring actor wants to see himself in the future is the glamour industry. It’s the place where making names takes longer than breaking one. Therefore, it is extremely unlikely for them to leave early after celebrities make a mark in the showbiz industry. There are, however, some actors who choose to take a different route than most of their contemporaries. Surprisingly, those who have tasted success and fame are some of the ones who leave, and yet they chose to step away from it.

 

Here’s a look at those celebrities from Bollywood and TV who left early to follow the spiritual path:

1. Sana Khan

 

In an Instagram post earlier this year, the stunning actress and former Bigg Boss contestant Sana Khan confirmed her exit from the film industry. After an ugly breakup with choreographer boyfriend Melvin Louis, she admitted that she was highly influenced by the teachings of Islam and hence took this decision to leave the showbiz industry.

 

 

Right now, She is married to Anas Sayied.

 

2. Zaira Wasim

Zaira Wasim, the Dangal kid, was near the height of her career when she revealed her decision to leave the Bollywood industry. She disclosed in a lengthy Instagram post that she was dissatisfied with her line of work in the industry.

 

She is currently involved on social media sites, but The Sky Is Pink remains her last Bollywood film.

 

 

 

3. Anu Aggarwal

Anu Aggarwal rose to fame for her appearance in Aashiqui, a romantic blockbuster film. Her fame, however, remained short-lived, as soon after her debut she suffered a major road accident. She decided to leave Bollywood for good and pursue her spiritual calling after having a near brush with death.

 

 

4. Sofia Hayat

Sofia Hayat was very controversial for her tweets and comments, but as she declared her farewell from the industry, she took social media by storm. She announced in 2016 that she had embraced spirituality and chose to become a nun. She has also called herself Mother Gaia Sofia.

 

 

5. Mamta Kulkarni

Back in the 90s, Mamta Kulkarni basked in glory for some time. In Karan Arjun, she worked with all of the Khans, including Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. As one of the most seductive actresses of her day, she was idealised. Nevertheless, she quit the industry to pursue the path of faith and spirituality after her film Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum.

 

 

6. Vinod Khanna

When he decided to leave cinema to join the cult leader Osho Rajneesh, the late actor courted quite a lot of controversy. He secretly walked out of the industry to follow his calling, leaving a promising future ahead of him. He migrated to Oregon, leaving behind his entire family. In Salman Khan’s Dabanngg, however, Vinod Khanna made a brief comeback.

 

 

7. Barkha Madan

Barkha Madan decided to call it a stop after enjoying her time in the industry as a successful model, actress, and film producer. She converted to Buddhism and wished to become a nun of Buddhism. She is also an ardent follower of the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader.

 

 

8. Suchitra Sen

The Bengali actress of yesteryear, Suchitra Sen, left a lucrative career behind her and chose to become a recluse. She left the industry after a dazzling career of 25 years and avoided any form of public attention. Before she passed away in 2013, she devoted what remained of her life to the Ramakrishna Mission.

 

 

9. Augus T. Jones

When they declared their early retirement, not only Indian actors, but foreign celebrities also took the world by surprise. Remember Two and a Half Men’s Jake Harper? In 2013, the artist left the famous show, citing contradictions with his religious beliefs.
